Itinerario
- Cusco - Aguas Calientes: We will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the bus station. There you will take the bus that will take you to the train station in Ollantaytambo where you will take the train that will take you to Aguas Calientes, a town located near the Machu Picchu Sanctuary (The time will depend on the availability of Train tickets) This train ride is considered one of the most impressive experiences for visitors to our country. The trip shows stunning views of the Andes and enters a lush jungle environment as we descend to 2040 meters. After approximately four hours, we will arrive in Aguas Calientes and you will have to make your way to the assigned hotel on foot, as there are no taxis available in this city. Following this, you'll have some free time to relax and explore the town at your leisure. Aguas Calientes is nestled in a lush, deep valley traversed by a river and boasts a range of cafes and eateries. The Machu Picchu 2-Day Tour also allows you to experience the natural hot springs in Aguas Calientes, ensuring you feel rejuvenated for your visit to Machu Picchu the next day. Around 7:00 pm you will receive a briefing from the guide who will lead you on the tour of the Machu Picchu citadel.
- Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Aguas Calientes - Cusco: To fully appreciate the serene atmosphere of Machu Picchu, it is best to arrive early in the morning. Therefore, we will depart at 5:30 am after breakfast. To go to Machu Picchu you can either walk up (approximately 1:40 h) or you can choose to take the bus that ascends to the Machu Picchu ruins (the price is $12 per passenger one way or $24 round trip). The bus ride takes approximately 25 minutes along a steep and winding road, which offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Once you arrive, our guide will take you through the key areas of this remarkable Inca city, including the impressive Intiwatana (the sundial), the Temple of the Sun, the urban area and the agricultural area. For many years, Machu Picchu was considered a legend until explorer Hiram Bingham rediscovered its remains in 1911. Perched 2,430 metres above sea level in a lush tropical mountain forest, Machu Picchu boasts an extraordinarily beautiful setting. It was probably the most notable urban achievement of the Inca Empire at its peak, with massive walls, terraces and ramps that appear to have been naturally carved out of rock. The guided tour of Machu Picchu will last approximately 1.5 hours, after which you will have time to explore the ruins on your own. If you wish, you can hike up Huayna Picchu Mountain, the prominent peak seen in many classic photos of Machu Picchu. The climb to the summit takes about an hour via steep stairs and can be a challenge, but the view from the top is a stunning reward. You will then begin your return to Aguas Calientes, where you can enjoy lunch and browse the different craft shops. If you wish, you can also relax in the thermal baths located in the upper part of the town. Finally, around 4:20 pm, we will board the train back to Cusco, arriving after dark where our private transportation will be waiting for you to take you to your accommodation (During high season, the return train time varies depending on demand and price).
